Alyssa Raine Allard

October 15, 1996 - October 19, 1996

"A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam and for a brief moment it's glory and beauty belong to our world, but then it flies on again and although we wish it could have stayed, we are so thankful to have seen it at all."

My beautiful baby girl, Alyssa Raine, was born with an undetected heart defect. The day after she was born, we were informed that during an exam the doctors heard a heart murmur. After further tests, they discovered she had Hypo-Plastic Left Heart Syndrome. She was transferred to another hospital and after 3 days she underwent open-heart surgery. She didn't handle it well. The following day she went into cardiac arrest and died. We miss her so much and long to hold her in our arms again. As the poem above stated, she is our "butterfly" and even though she is gone, we feel so blessed to have known her and to have been able to spend 4 days with her. If you would like to know more about Alyssa and how we have been able to get through this ordeal, please visit her site by clicking here.
