Stories of Lost Grandchildren

Chloe our Angel
by Sonoia A. Piccola, Frisco, TX, U.S.A.

This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do, bury my 10 month old Granddaughter. She was so special to this family, a real blessing. She was diagnosed with a condition called biliary atresia when she was 2 months, the surgery performed was called the Kasai. We found out January 27 2001 that the surgery didn't work and she would be place on a liver transplant list. The waiting, praying and hoping began. We finally got the call at 9:00 a.m. June 22, 2001. All the family rushed to Children's Hospital of Dallas, we were so excited, they were going to fix our baby. She was in picu for 9 days and died. The liver transplanted into our Chloe's body had stopped working, by that time Chloe was not in very good shape, kidney failure, collapsed lung and she stopped breathing. My heart was breaking into a million pieces. How could God do this to me? Chloe died July 1 2001 at 1:25 a.m. but she still lives on in my heart. I wake up every morning and think, "I have just had the worst dream and realize it wasn't a dream.

I love you Chloe; you save a spot for me beside you when I get there, I miss you everyday. MIMI
