Stories of Other Loss

I lost The One Person For Accepted Me For Me
by Amy Greger, Sheboygan, U.S.A.

Well what do I say? I came home from work on September 24th and my neighbor came over with two beers and said he needed to talk. I didn't think anything of it and then. He said sit down. He said Mark (who was my boyfriend) was in an accident and he is brain dead. All I could do was cry and after he left I called Mark's cell home and got his voice mail. Later that night, his mom called and said that Mark passed away this morning. What do you say to someone who didn't like you from the start but you were going to spend the rest of your life with her son? Mark died on a Friday and that Saturday, we were to go to a wedding together. I still cry if I talk about it or write. I am not ready to really move on. I don't know how. He was the only one that ever accepted me for who I was and my son looked at him as a father, I would like to think. If I would have one wish, it would not be to bring him back because he did have a lot of heart problems. But for me to have one more day with him and make sure he knew how much he meant to me and still does. I talk about him all the time and I will never forget him. Mark A. HAAS have you live in no pain now and may you rest in peace.
